Mass Effect

What has to be one of my favorite games of all time would be Mass Effect from Bioware. It combined a good story with a great rpg system of building your skills based on your play-style. It's played in a third person view which is probably best for this style of game. It combined both shooting and rpg genres very well and even added a squad based system.
